Celebrity Race Across the World viewers were “gutted” as one team decided to drop out of the race early. It was the final episode of the BBC programme which has seen four groups of celebrity contestants take on a journey across the world.
This series has led the contestants through one of the most diverse and visually stunning routes, spanning the undiscovered Caribbean and Pacific coast of Central America. Their journey began on the idyllic Caribbean island of Isla Mujeres, just off the easternmost point of Mexico.
The teams were challenged to race a total of 5,900km to reach the finish line. It was the final leg of the journey and they were tasked with locating the remote and breathtaking Península de La Guajira in Colombia – the gateway to South America.
Molly and Tyler were the first to depart the checkpoint for the final time with the hopes of making it to the finish line first. The headed to Uribia in Colombia.
They were closely followed by Roman and Harleymoon before Anita and Bal also embarked on the final leg of the challenge. However, as the groups were on a bus heading towards the next location, they received a message informing them of some sad news.

Roman revealed to Harleymoon that the final group, Dylan and his mum Jackie, had decided to end their journey early.
The message read: “Dylan and Jackie have decided to leave the race. They wish you all the luck reaching the finish line. Now just three teams will compete in the final leg.”
Dylan revealed their remaining budget was too weak for them to continue with the race so made the difficult decision to pull out of the competition. Dylan’s mum Jackie said their journey was “incredible” but was emotional to see it end prematurely.
Fans were “gutted” with the decision and took to social media to express their disappointment. One said: “Such a shame for Dylan and his mum. But they did what was right for them.”
A second said: “Absolutely gutted” [crying emoji]. A third added: “They were my favourite to win, gutted they had to bow out.”
A fourth also said: “Sometimes it’s not about the race it’s about the journey and Jackie and Dylan had that in abundance. Wish them all the best!”
