‘Lucky Weekend’: Heist Pic From ‘Yellowjackets’ Star Kevin Alves Releases First-Look Image

EXCLUSIVE: Here’s a first look at Yellowjackets star Kevin Alves in his directorial debut, coming-of-age heist pic Lucky Weekend.
The cast of his indie pic includes Yellowjackets co-star Alexa Barajas, Gen V’s Jessica Clement, newcomer Clarice Wood, Jesse Camacho (Locke & Key), John Daniel (Wayward), Agape Mngomezulu (Ginny & Georgia), Jack Ettlinger (Death Note), Luke Hutchie (Ghosting) and Alex Ozerov-Meyer (Another Life).
The film is being made through Alves’ 31 Twelve Films, with Julian Smither and Barajas acting as producers. Post-production is currently wrapping ahead of a planned festival run in 2026.
Alves is also the writer on the coming-of-age story, in which 18 year-old Gabe finds out his best friend has stolen his winning scratch ticket and wrangles a group of unlikely friends to help him steal it back before it is cashed in. The action plays out over a single weekend.
“The relationships in Lucky Weekend reminded me of kids at the park,” said Alves. “You meet someone and within an hour, they’re suddenly your best friend and you’d go to battle for them. We want audiences to feel like part of the group, along for the ride. At its core, this story is about friendship — how it begins, how it shifts, and how it can save you.”
The actor-director is best known for his role as Travis in Showtime’s plane crash survival series Yellowjackets, which drops its fourth and final season next year. Alves and co-stars such as Ella Purnell, Melanie Lynskey, Sophie Thatcher and Tawny Cypress are currently preparing for the shoot on the Emmy-nominated show. He also recently wrapped filming on horror-thriller ScareBnB.
Alves is repped by D2 Management, Connekt Creative and Bloch Law.
