Young singers from RGS The Grange take to the stage at the Royal Albert Hall

YOUNG singers from RGS The Grange took centre stage at the Royal Albert Hall for Barnardo’s Young Supporters Concert,
This marked the fourth consecutive year the Worcester prep school has been invited to perform at the iconic London venue.
The year six pupils travelled to the capital for a day of rehearsals before delivering an evening performance alongside the world-famous Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Ben Pope. The concert was hosted by broadcaster Natasha Kaplinsky, with a special guest appearance from singer Heather Small.
This year’s theme, Showtime – A Night of Musical Movie Magic, saw the children perform favourites from much-loved stage and screen musicals, including ‘When I Grow Up’ from Matilda and ‘A Million Dreams’ from The Greatest Showman.
The Royal Philharmonic performed a selection of orchestral favourites.
And the concert also featured surprise video messages from Helen Mirren, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, highlighting the important work Barnardo’s carries out to support vulnerable children across the UK. The event typically raises over £70,000 each year for the charity.
Elizabeth Keetley-Smith, head of music and performance at RGS The Grange, said: “It is such a privilege for our pupils to perform in one of the most famous concert halls in the world. They rehearsed tirelessly and represented the school with pride, joy and professionalism. We are incredibly grateful to Barnardo’s for inviting us once again, it is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
Headmaster Gareth Hughes added: “This is a moment our pupils will cherish for years to come. We are enormously proud of their talent, teamwork and confidence, they were outstanding ambassadors for RGS The Grange and the wider Worcestershire community.”
