That’s Sir Roger Daltrey to You: The Who Singer Knighted by Prince William

The Who’s Roger Daltrey was knighted by Prince William at Windsor Castle on Wednesday. The legendary singer joins the ranks of Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, Sir Mick Jagger, and other rock icons who’ve been awarded knighthood.
Daltrey’s knighthood was announced back in June, but the actual ceremony took place yesterday. The 81-year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer received his latest honor in recognition of both his musical achievements and his charity work through the Teenage Cancer Trust
Following the ceremony, Daltrey said (via The Independent), “For me, it’s a double honor because I’m getting it for my work with Teenage Cancer Trust. So personally it’s wonderful. But for Teenage Cancer Trust, I’m accepting it on behalf of all those people who may never get an honor and without whom we never would have made the success we have made of our charity.”

He added, “It is an incredible honor, I was born in the Second World War and grew up in the streets in London. For a kid like me, achieving this, it’s a dream.”
The Who completed a farewell tour this past October, playing their final show of the outing at the Acrisure Arena in Thousand Palms, California.
