School bus drivers affected by wintry weather

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – The slush remaining in Kanawha County is a reminder of the troubles that drivers faced on their commutes Monday.
“I didn’t have to go out until darkness had already set in, and by that point, everything had turned into a sheet of ice,” said Dan Foster, who lives in Kanawha County.
School bus drivers also felt the impact of the slick conditions.
In Kanawha County, the School District said they had two buses slide off the road.
“It concerns me if anybody is slipping and sliding on the road,” Foster said.
They also said neither of those buses had any real damage and no one was injured.
Putnam County School District had one bus get stuck in mud and need assistance getting out.
The driver of a second one of their buses pulled off to the side of the road to avoid being stuck behind a salt truck.
In Logan County, their School District said while there were no crashes, some students weren’t able to get picked up for school because of unsafe conditions getting to their homes.
Those students were dismissed from school for the day.
Both the Mingo and Wayne school districts said they had no incidents.
It’s all ahead of another round of winter storms expected to impact the area on Friday.
