Red Dead Redemption 2 Character Referenced In New GTA Online Update

🔊 Listen to this

Rockstar Games have seemingly referenced Red Dead Redemption 2 once again inside of GTA Online. We’ve seen Rockstar previously include screenshots from Red Dead Redemption 2 inside the game, the cash notes in GTA 6 contain the presidents of the game and much more. So this new addition is nothing out of the blue.

Released on Wednesday, the company dropped an update for GTA Online called A Safehouse in the Hills. It’s all about mansions. Players can finally purchase luxury homes featuring multiple levels of high-end interior design. These mansions also come with a vast array of customisation options.

A Fun Discovery

As I was going through all the different options available to me, I noticed some text that certainly references a character from Red Dead Redemption 2.

There are many pieces of artwork from paintings to sculptures that can be purchased and placed in different areas of the mansions. Each of them feature the artist’s name when selected.

The bottom painting in the menu for the entrance piece of artwork is titled In The Shade. The game says the painting is by C. Châtenay. In Red Dead 2, Charles Châtenay was a French painter and side character for The Artist’s Way mission. This is clearly meant to reference him.

Upon further inspection, as spotted by GTA Wiki, this painting is one that is found on the walls of Braithwaite Manor in Red Dead 2. Charles did not do the original painting in the manor despite him evidently doing this one.

To access the mansion customisation menu, you need to be inside your mansion. Once you are there, open up the interaction menu and select the first option which is mansion management. From here, select the second option which is customisation. Then select decorations. The first option will be for the entrance painting. Scroll down to the bottom of this menu and the Red Dead 2 painting.

sions and the Michael mission that follows, you received a phone call from Mr Faber. It almost certainly hints towards another DLC with more missions coming next year before GTA 6 releases.
