Simon Cowell is no longer in contact with one of his biggest American Idol co-stars. It’s not Paula Abdul or Randy Jackson, instead Cowell isn’t in contact with the show’s long running host, Ryan Seacrest.

Simon Cowell is No Longer in Contact With Ryan Seacrest

In a recent interview with The New York Times, Cowell discussed his past on American Idol. The world famous star even apologized for his comments on the singing show!

Within the interview, Seacrest came up in conversation. Regarding Seacrest’s work ethic, Cowell isn’t sure why the Wheel of Fortune host remains popular in culture, but he did admit that Seacrest “works hard.”

“He was very, very ambitious,” explained Cowell of Seacrest. “I didn’t follow his career, so I don’t know what he’s done. We rarely talk now.”

The Music Mogul Talks Positively About Seacrest

While looking back at his time on Idol with the Wheel of Fortune host, Cowell admitted that “He was very, very ambitious.” As of the present, Cowell doesn’t follow Seacrest’s current hosting gigs.

“He was very steely about his career — wanting to be famous,” Cowell said. “This massive, massive desire about being, you know, very famous.”

It’s clear Seacrest knew his potential even at a young age, since he’s one of the most well-known hosts in Hollywood. The host has been consistently on American Idol since 2002 and has recently taken over Pat Sajak’s role on Wheel of Fortune. He also is the long running host of Dick Clark’s New Year’s RockinEve.

The last time the competition show host spoke publicly on the music mogul was in a 2017 interview with Ellen DeGeneres. He called working with Cowell as “always entertaining” when it was rumored that Seacrest would take over hosting for Nick Cannon.

“I miss Simon,” said Seacrest at the time. “He’s a lot of fun to work with.”
