Mystery around Leonardo DiCaprio’s strange habit finally solved

It’s common knowledge that Leonardo DiCaprio likes to keeps a low profile during day-to-day public outings.
The superstar actor has cooked up some seriously inventive methods of going incognito over the years, to varying degrees of success.
It turns out it’s a strategic move from the Oscar-winner to prevent the public from suffering DiCaprio fatigue.

“It’s been a balance I’ve been managing my whole adult life and still I’m not an expert,” the Hollywood star, who has been named TIME’s Entertainer of the Year, told the publication in a recent cover story.
“I think my simple philosophy is only get out there and do something when you have something to say or have something to show for it,” he added.
”Otherwise, just disappear as much as you possibly can.”
This philosophy explains DiCaprio’s many creative attempts to keep his identity hidden – using hats, masks and sunnies – over the years.

Speaking to the publication, DiCaprio, who soared to fame after the success of his film Titanic, revealed that he found the mammoth attention overwhelming and worried about the longevity of his career with such public admiration and scrutiny.
“I was like, OK, how do I have a long career? Because I love what I do and I feel like the best way to have a long carer is to get out of people’s face,” he said.

Now, the actor attempts to only make a public appearance when he has something to say, which for the passionate environmental activist is usually something about climate change.
When the acting legend won his much-anticipated Oscar for his role in The Revenant, he used his acceptance speech to express his thoughts on the climate emergency.
“Climate change is real. It is happening right now. It’s the most urgent threat facing our entire species and we need to work collectively together and stop procrastinating,” he said at the 88th annual Academy Awards in 2016.
Since then he has remained vocal with his environmental activism.
“It was alarming 10 years ago, and now we’re in a situation where basically, we’re at the tipping point. Everything that scientists have predicted is almost happening like clockwork,” he told TIME about the current state of the natural world.
