Tristan Jarry to make Oilers’ debut against Leafs a day after blockbuster trade

Tristan Jarry will make his Edmonton Oilers debut on Saturday against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The 30-year-old Jarry was acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday in a blockbuster deal that saw struggling goalie Stuart Skinner go the other way.

Jarry is putting together a strong season after a down year in 2024-25 when he posted a 3.09 goals-against average and a .893 save percentage over 36 games.

In 14 games with the Penguins this season, the native of Surrey, B.C. has a 9-3-1 record alongside a 2.66 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage.

Jarry, who played his junior hockey with the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings, has spent his entire 10-year NHL career with the Penguins after they selected him in the second-round of the 2013 NHL Draft.

Following a strong 2022-23 season, Jarry was awarded a large five-year, $26.88 million deal, featuring an average annual value of $5.38 million.

Jarry is in the third year of the contract.

The Oilers, who are 5-3-2 in their last 10 games, currently sit fourth in the Pacific Division with a 14-11-6 record, two points behind the Los Angeles Kings.

Edmonton have lost to the Florida Panthers in back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals.
