Live updates: Police search for suspect after shooting at Brown University

Witnesses describe seeing over a dozen emergency response vehicles racing to the scene of an active shooting at Brown University, performing CPR on at least one individual and carrying two others away on stretchers, according to their interviews with CNN affiliate WJAR.
“I started seeing a bunch of cars going towards the scene and I saw someone on the ground, unfortunately. It looked like they were getting CPR,” Jib Daya, a Providence resident who was near the scene when the shooting first unfolded, told WJAR. “I saw about two people getting carried away on the stretcher.”
Swarms of officers carrying assault weapons and wearing tactical gear were on the scene responding to the active incident as an officer urged members of the media to take cover in their vehicles, according to WJAR.
Daya says he often hears stories of other communities experiencing a tragedy like this one but hoped “it never comes toward me.”
“Now it’s over here… it’s very scary because I don’t want to get harmed and I don’t want my people in my state to get harmed,” he continued.
Similarly, Shresta Dellidiga told WJAR she was also in the area when more and more emergency vehicles sped past her.
“They seemed urgent. They were driving really fast. It’s really shocking. It’s confusing.”
