‘Some storm activity around’: What the weather leading up to Christmas looks like

Temperatures for the next seven days are expected to peak on Monday, with a high of 33 degrees and a low of 21.

“Temperatures will start to warm again towards the end of next week, but we’ll stay around about 26, 27, through Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. We’re back up to around 29 by Friday.”

While the BOM does not provide solid forecasts beyond seven days, Hayes said based on current modelling, next weekend was likely to be quite settled. However, he said some activity may develop during Christmas week.

“It might be starting to clear by Christmas Day.”

The forecast

The weather is expected to be party cloudy on Saturday, December 13, with a low of 20 degrees and a high of 29. BOM predicts a low chance of rain, with any showers expected to occur in the morning and afternoon.

On Sunday afternoon or evening there is a medium chance of showers and a small chance of a thunderstorm, with a low of 22 degrees and a high of 30.

Monday will see a minimum of 21 degrees and a high of 33, with a mostly sunny morning again giving way to a medium chance of showers in the afternoon and evening, with a possible thunderstorm.

Wednesday, December 17, is set to be cloudy, with a minimum of 20 degrees and a high of 26. According to the bureau, there is the slight chance of a shower, more than likely in the morning.

Thursday will be partly cloudy, with a minimum of 19 degrees, a high of 27, and a 20 per cent chance of rain.

Friday is set to be partly cloudy, with a low of 18, a high of 29, and a 10 per cent chance of rain.

Saturday, December 20, is forecast to be a clear day with little chance of rain. AccuWeather forecasts a minimum of 20 degrees and a high of 29.

Next Sunday is predicted to be a cloudy but dry day, with AccuWeather forecasting a minimum of 21 degrees and a high of 30.

Christmas week

Monday, December 22, is likely to be cloudy, with a minimum of 21 degrees and a high of 31, according to AccuWeather.

A cloudy morning is expected on Tuesday, December 23, clearing to sunny spells in the afternoon before the cloud returns with a little rain in the evening. AccuWeather is forecasting a minimum of 21 degrees and a high of 30.

Christmas Eve is likely to be wet, with rain predicted throughout the day, though it will reduce into the night. AccuWeather’s forecast is for a minimum of 20 degrees and a high of 27.

Christmas Day is expected to be cloudy and humid, with a small chance of showers, a low of 22 degrees and a high of 30.

Boxing Day is forecast to start off sunny, with cloud cover increasing throughout the day and a small chance of rain, though it is expected to clear up into the evening. AccuWeather is predicting a minimum of 23 degrees and a high of 28.
