Badou Jack vs. Noel Mikaeljan 2 live results, round-by-round updates, ring walks for WBC rematch

Noel Mikaeljan came from behind in a scrappy inside battle against Badou Jack on Saturday night, winning back the WBC cruiserweight world championship in a rematch after losing it in their first fight earlier this year.
It all went down at Ace Mission Studios in Los Angeles atop a Steve Bash pay-per-view card, and while it was not the most aesthetically pleasing fight for the most part, it carried enough back-and-forth drama to keep it interesting.

There was a point deduction for both fighters during the later stages of the bout, as referee Jerry Cantu deducted one from Mikaeljan (28-3, 12 KOs) for hitting behind the head in the seventh round after repeated warnings, and then he punished Jack (29-4-3, 17 KOs) in the eighth for punching after the break.
Though Jack kept things competitive for the first half of the fight, scoring with counters and shots to the body, he noticeably slowed from the seventh onward, which allowed Mikaeljan to cut the lead before taking over himself.
While Mikaeljan becomes a two-time cruiserweight champion and can perhaps look toward a unification in 2026 with Jai Opetaia, Saturday’s result leaves Jack to wonder what’s next and whether he should hang up the gloves for good at age 42.

“I don’t feel great,” he admitted after the judges confirmed a unanimous decision win for Mikaeljan (115-111, 116-110, 116-110). “I had a great career, but we’ll see what’s next.”
Earlier in the show, Jonny Mansour (6-0, 2 KOs) showcased reasonable boxing to out-point Marco Rodriguez (12-10-3, 5 KOs), and Mansour’s cousin, Julius “JuJu” Ballo (2-0, 0 KOs), looked good outboxing Juan Centeno (10-26-4, 2 KOs) en route to his own decision win on the opening legs of the card.
One of the best fights of the night, meanwhile, saw light flyweights Brook Sibrian (9-2, 4 KOs) and Gloria Munguilla (8-3, 0 KOs) go at it, with Sibrian securing her revenge in their rematch with a competitive decision win.

When asked if he’ll consider a rematch to complete the trilogy with Noel Mikaelian, Badou Jack said: “I don’t feel great. We’ll see. I had a great career, but we’ll see what’s next.”

And the judges all agreed — its a unanimous decision to Noel Mikaelian! Well-deserved. He gets it with scores of 115-111, 116-110, 116-110.

Out of all the fights we’ve seen, the Jack-Mikaelian rematch was hardly the most aesthetically-pleasing but, boy, did it have drama. We had a point deduction from both fighters. We had an after-the-ball riot. We had a back-and-forth battle on the inside but, ultimately, there is a clear winner on our unofficial scorecard, and it should be Noel Mikaelian by three points.
We scored it 115-112. Weird fight.

Mikaelian hit Jack with a big right hand at the start of the 11th. He also looks the far fresher fighter at a time in which the rounds are running out. In the first fight, of course, the judges regarded Jack to have done the better work in the championship rounds. But it looks the opposite right now.
Round 11: 105-103

The funniest thing about this fight is that it’s the referee’s final assignment and he’s being made to work harder than he likely has in many of the fights he’s been in the ring for before. Mikaelian, in the 10th, is forcing Jack to be on the defensive end of his game. The complexion of this bout keeps changing at key moments, and if Mikaelian wins just one of the last two rounds, he takes the W.
Round 10: 95-94 — Mikaelian

Mikaelian begins the ninth in good standing, throwing uppercuts to Jack’s body. And then one-twos with the second shot being the uppercut. Mikaelian’s strategy is clearly to punish the midsection. He keeps targeting it. Jack is now far more defensive. He’s not in control of the middle of the ring anymore.
Round 9: 85-85

The third man in the ring is the busiest referee of the night so far, and again separates the fighters in the eighth, seemingly loathe to allow them to fight during the clinch. Mikaelian low blows in inside exchanges before the ref separated it. Now Badou Jack has a point deducted! AND NOW WE’RE RIOTING! YES! THIS IS WHY WE WATCH THE FIGHTS, PEOPLE! ITS CHAOS! Officials storm the ring to bringorder back! The crowd are on their feet, and so am I!
Round 8: 76-75 — Jack

The referee again warned Mikaelian for hitting behind the head and as they restart the fight, Jack attacks him with huge shots. Mikaelian responded with his own solid single fire shots. They again tie up. The referee separates them, and then takes a point away! That’s huge! If the judges had it closer than Uncrowned, Mikaelian just gets punished!
Round 7: 68-65 — Jack

An inside battle got underway in the sixth round with both guys punching from as close a range as they could muster. What it could come down to, is how judges favored power (Jack), or activity (Mikaelian) in these exchanges.

Mikaelian boxed around the periphery of the ring, allowing Jack to take center stage. Jack hit him with one-twos. Mikaelian again hit him on the back of the head. Mikaelian sought to punish the older body of Jack by sending shots downstairs, and try to deplete him of any of the energy needed to hang with a younger fighter. Mikaelian hit him with a nice shot toward the end of the round.
Round 5: 48-47 — Jack

Jack was quick with counters, and had solid jabs, in the fourth. He timed him with a short-range right hand, a straight right, and two-shot combos. The referee warned Mikaelian for rabbit punching, and warned Jack when he was walking back to the corner, for hitting Mikaelian after the bell.
Round 4: 39-37 — Jack

Badou Jack starts the third with a double jab and Mikaelian responds with a quadruple jab. Then he follows it up moments later with the quadruple jab but then adds a big body shot for good measure. Jack throws with venom but Mikaelian dances away from the shot. Jack hurts him! Mikaelian recovers. Jack with a big right hand on the counter! Jack now taking the lead on Uncrowned’s unofficial card. Mikaelian finishes with a big one-two.
Round 3: 29-28 — Jack

Mikaelian feints well, and continues with the momentum that he built from the opener. Jack catches Mikaelian with a big left hook to the face — his best shot of the fight so far. Badou touched the body time and again. Oh! And tempers flared at the end! Some spice to finish the second!
Round 2: 19-19

Round 13 of 24! Here we go! In a rematch from Badou Jack’s win by majority decision earlier this year over Noel Mikaelian, both guys started cagey despite being so familiar with one anothers games. Mikaelian punched Jack off-balance in the opening minute with a jab. Jack has a nice jab that he throws to Mikaelian’s body — something he landed at least twice in different parts of the first. Mikaelian with another nice right hand.
Round 1: 10-9 — Mikaelian

Badou Jack walks to the ring to DMX, channeling Mike Tyson. Reminds me of the old Fight Night video game, too. This slightly beats Noel Mikaelian, even though he picked AC/DC – Hells Bells to
