Second Protest Over Planned Parking Charges At Blanchardstown Shopping Centre

A protest took place today at lunchtime in Blanchardstown over planned parking charges at the shopping centre.

It’s the second time locals have gathered to campaign against the introduction of charges at the centre and surrounding areas.

It comes as residents have lodged an Appeal to An Comisiun Pleanala.

They say the centre has key public facilities, and the introduction of charges will impede access for locals.

Currently, there are 7000 free parking spaces.

Ruth Coppinger, Solidarity TD for Dublin West, says those protesting didn’t want to impact trade today, but they feel they have no choice.
