Chelsea went four games without victory before beating Everton 2-0 at the weekend.
Speaking afterwards, Maresca branded the previous 48 hours “the worst since I joined.”
And SunSport revealed today that the Italian’s cryptic words were indeed aimed at Chelsea’s sprawling hierarchy.
It now remains to be seen how long Maresca remains in his position.

OLIVER GLASNER
The Crystal Palace manager is one of the best coaches in the Premier League and has been on shortlists at Stamford Bridge in the past.
Glanser is out of contract at the end of the season and has made his frustrations with the Eagles ownership over their transfer dealings clear.
There is no great expectation that the Palace boss, who has won the FA Cup with them and the Europa League at Eintracht Frankfurt, will sign a new deal.

The Austrian could prove an astute appointment.
But he would more likely be an explosive one given his history for arguing with the powers that be at previous clubs.
LIAM ROSENIOR
Already part of the BlueCo stable, Rosenior is very well regarded at Stamford Bridge.
Since taking over at Strasbourg, Chelsea’s sister club, the former Hull City boss has guided the French side into the Conference League with a seventh placed finish.
Strasbourg currently sit top of the Conference League table, undefeated in the group stage with just one game left to play.
Rosenior has worked well with a number of younger players, developing an attractive style in Alsace.
Chelsea’s hierarchy have already entrusted Rosenior with a number of their top youth prospects, using Strasbourg to develop them before moving them into the Premier League.

ANDONI IRAOLA
The Spaniard has built a stellar reputation and claimed more than a few scalps with his work at Bournemouth.
Iraola is considered the next cab off the rank when it comes to managers stepping up into the big time from smaller Premier League clubs.
The former Rayo Vallecano boss has shown he can work in a modern footballing structure and can cope with high squad turnover, having lost almost his entire backline last summer.

FRANK LAMPARD
The club legend was the man this ownership turned to on an interim basis when Graham Potter was shown the door. Lampard has since gone away and rebuilt his reputation with Championship leaders Coventry City.
Lampard has done good work with a very young squad in the past at Stamford Bridge, when he was plucked from Derby County and thrown in at the deep end for his first stint in charge.
It would have to be one hell of an offer, and a far more long term one, to prize their midfield icon away from Coventry at this point.
