Salami on Saudi Arabia: We Are Facing a Strong Team Favored to Win the Arab Cup

Moroccan coach Jamal Salami, head coach of the Jordan national team, spoke about the highly anticipated clash against Saudi Arabia, scheduled for Monday, as part of the Arab Cup 2025 semi-finals, stressing that the match carries great significance and demands maximum focus.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Salami confirmed that Jordan’s preparations are in their final stages, saying:
“We gave some players a short rest, and today we will complete our final preparations. We know we are facing a strong team, one of the favorites to win the tournament, with a complete squad and no major absences.”

Attacking Absences Hit Al-Nashama

The Jordan coach revealed that his side will be without two key attacking players, explaining:
“For the first time, we will play without both Yazan Al-Naimat and Mousa Al-Tamari together. It is a big challenge, but we have full confidence in the rest of the players to defend our chances of qualification.”

Salami also addressed Al-Naimat’s injury, noting that the medical staff handled the situation properly. He explained that the player was suffering from an injury that could not be accurately assessed immediately, before it later worsened.

Mutual Respect with Renard

Salami praised French coach Hervé Renard, head coach of the Saudi national team, highlighting the mutual respect between them, while emphasizing that fierce competition will be evident on the pitch during the semi-final encounter.

He pointed to Saudi Arabia’s technical strength, stressing that the Green Falcons enjoy clear balance across all lines and boast quality players in midfield and attack, making the match extremely difficult.

Call for Fair Officiating
Salami concluded his remarks by underlining the importance of fair refereeing, insisting that both teams must receive their full rights on the pitch to ensure a match worthy of the magnitude of the competition.

He also noted that the attacking absences could provide an opportunity for other players to step up, showcase their abilities, and contribute to keeping Jordan’s dream of reaching the final alive.
