Football: Salah, Mbeumo… which other Premier League players will be heading to AFCON 2025?

The 2025 CAF Africa Cup of Nations gets underway on Sunday (21 December) in Morocco, bringing together 24 nations for the five-week football tournament.
With all the countries confirming their maximum 28-man squads and clubs expected to release players on Monday (15 December), the Premier League alone will see 33 of its stars depart for the tournament, which runs until 18 January, 2026.
Among the players set to compete in Morocco are Egypt stars Mohamed Salah of Liverpool and Omar Marmoush of Manchester City.
Manchester United trio of Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui will also leave to join Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire and Morocco respectively.
Senegal will have the most Premier League players in their squad for AFCON 2025 with six, led by Everton duo of Idrissa Gana Gueye and Iliman Ndiaye, as they seek to reclaim the title they won in 2022.
Newly promoted side Sunderland is the club that will see the most players leave for Morocco, with six of their stars heading to the North African country.
