Texas A&M promoting Holmon Wiggins to offensive coordinator after Collin Klein’s departure

With Collin Klein departing for Kansas State after Texas A&M’s postseason run, the Aggies will promote co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Holmon Wiggins to OC. A&M head coach Mike Elko announced the news at his weekly press conference Monday.

“He’s extremely intelligent, I think he’s got a great offensive mind, he obviously played a big role in what we’ve done around here on offense to this point,” Elko said about what Wiggins brings to the OC position. “I think he’s spent a lot of time under some really good offensive coordinators over his career, and he just sees the game in a way that’s very compatible with how we want our offense to run. And so I think it makes a lot of sense.”

Wiggins arrived in College Station in 2024 from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where he spent five seasons with the Crimson Tide as wide receivers coach. He also spent three seasons as the assistant head coach of offense under former Alabama head coach Nick Saban. During his time with the Crimson Tide, Wiggins produced a Heisman Trophy and Biletnikoff Award winner in DeVonta Smith, as well as five first-round picks in the NFL draft.

In 2025, Wiggins has been key to the Aggies’ historical success out wide. KC Concepcion and Mario Craver have combined for 1,711 receiving yards, the most by an A&M duo since 2013. Wiggins has also played a massive role in recruiting for the Aggies.

“I think if you would say, ‘What is the most improved area on your team?’ It’s wide receiver talent,” Elko said. “If you were to say, ‘What’s the most improved area of your offense?’ It would be the passing game. And so certainly, he plays a role in all of that, right? He plays a role in the accumulation of talent. He plays a role in developing them and coaching them in the schematics that go behind it.”
