Sheffield Wednesday are down to the bare bones for the visit of Derby County as the packed schedule takes its toll on Henrik Pedersen’s wafer-thin squad.
Barry Bannan was withdrawn at half-time in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Watford. Afterwards, Pedersen explained that the talismanic skipper had suffered a tight groin.
The 36-year-old Scot is one of several players nursing injuries. Of the 14 senior players available to face Derby, it is thought less than ten are capable of playing the full 90 minutes.
Nevertheless, Pedersen has been encouraged by recent displays.
