Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail has had a pretty rocky last eighteen months. Originally released in mid-2024, the latest expansion to the award-winning MMORPG was meant to be a nice reprise, but it has since been met with a lot of criticism. The story was the major issue for it, as the raid content has been some of the best we’ve gotten. With that said, what a lot of players come for is the former, and with it, an unfortunate mark on Final Fantasy XIV’s record.
Thankfully, the series of events that transpired in Dawntrail was finally put to rest four months ago with patch 7.3, concluding the Alexandria storyline once and for all. While there will still be remnants in the future, it is something we can finally put behind us.
With that, Square Enix has released its extensive patch notes for update 7.4, which, if like past story cycles, will give us a good idea of where the developers are going with the next expansion.
