Steve Evans has reportedly been appointed as Bristol Rovers manager until the end of the season, with the former Rotherham United boss linked with the vacant position at the Memorial Stadium.
According to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, the 63-year-old will become the new manager, as he looks to stop a club record run of ten consecutive league defeats in North Bristol.
Evans has managed nine different clubs during his managerial career, including two spells at Rotherham United. His first stint at the club saw him win two promotions, from League Two to the Championship, before he departed the club in 2015. Evans’ most recent spell at the Millers ended in March 2025, following his return 11 months prior.

The experienced manager has achieved nine promotions during his career, including two automatic promotions from League Two with Rotherham and Stevenage in the 2012/13 and 2022/23 seasons, respectively.
He also managed Leeds United during a brief spell in the 2015/16 campaign, guiding the Whites to a 13th-placed finish.
If he is appointed imminently, as expected, Evans’ first game in charge will be Rovers’ trip to Crewe Alexandra on Friday.
Rovers are looking for a new manager after the dismissal of Darrell Clarke on Saturday. The 47-year-old returned to BS7 in the summer, but the club’s worst run of league defeats meant he was relieved of his duties after the 3-0 loss against Swindon Town at The Memorial Stadium.

Defeat to Ian Holloway’s Robins left the Gas sitting 23rd in League Two, having been relegated to the fourth tier under the management of Inigo Calderon last term.
Rovers have won just five of their first 20 league games this season and sit in the relegation zone on goal difference.
Between now and the new year, the Gas face a run of five games in two weeks with matches against Bromley, Barnet, Shrewsbury Town and Barrow to follow the weekend’s trip to Crewe Alexandra.
