Laura Stylez Reveals Why ‘Ebro in the Morning’ Didn’t Rec…

Laura Stylez provided a reason why she and her Ebro in the Morning co-hosts no longer went to Hot 97’s studio to broadcast their show.

On Friday, a fan responded to the news that Ebro in the Morning is over, saying that the trio had been doing the show virtually, rather than in the studio, in recent years. That, to the fan, amounted to “mailing it in.” Stylez objected to the characterization.

“Mailing it in? Lol it was live,” she responded. “We just didn’t want to go into a studio with roaches and homeless people sleeping in the hallways.”

According to New York City’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development, over the last two years, there have been no reported complaints or violations at Hot 97’s current building. However, a transitional housing shelter, the Bowery Residents’ Committee’s Jack Ryan Residence, is a block over from the studio.

News arrived on Friday that Ebro in the Morning was canceled. “It’s done. More to come. #EbroInTheMorning,” Ebro tweeted.

He further commented on the situation during an Instagram Live, theorizing that his views were becoming too “progressive.”

“They need my shit-talking anti‑Netanyahu, anti‑government, progressive shit out the way, bro. They need me out the way,” he said.

Stylez lamented the ending of the show on IG, writing, “We had the best time… the most beautiful listeners and got to work with legends I love. I’m so proud of the work we did together… I lived so many of my dreams at Hot97 and got to work with my best friends! ….and best friends don’t let go… trust me, @oldmanebro @rosenbergradio and I have plans and more coming next year!”

Over the weekend, Ebro shared the YouTube link for his, Stylez, and Peter Rosenberg’s new show, The Ebro Laura Rosenberg Show.

Ebro in the Morning launched in 2012, when Darden returned to the morning time slot after previously occupying it from 2004 to 2007. Outside of Hot 97, Darden is the Global Editorial Head of Hip-Hop and R&B at Apple Music, where he hosts The Ebro Show and Rap Life Radio.
