APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA – Eastview and Apple Valley High School administrators and the Apple Valley Police Department (AVPD) investigated a concerning social media message alleging a potential threat to the school. After a joint review by school officials and law enforcement, authorities determined that no credible threat was made.
According to the Apple Valley Police Department, officers were first contacted Sunday night after a concerning social media message was reported to have been posted online. Eastview High School’s School Resource Officer (SRO) immediately worked with school administration to investigate the post and assess any potential risk to students or staff. Throughout the day, the same social media message circulated, and it was again reported to administrators and the police.
In response to renewed concerns, the Eastview High School administration sent a safety update to families, noting that the earlier investigation found no credible threat and that the school would remain open.
In a message to families, Principal Bruce Miller emphasized that student and staff safety is the school’s top priority. He also asked community members not to repost or amplify unverified social media content, noting that sharing unsubstantiated information can increase anxiety and complicate ongoing assessments.
School officials confirmed that Eastview High School remained open and operating as usual while the situation was reviewed.
Police continue to encourage anyone with direct knowledge of a specific or immediate threat to contact the Apple Valley Police Department by calling 911. General concerns, attendance questions, or requests for follow-up from school staff can be directed to Eastview High School at 952-431-8900.
Law enforcement and school administrators say they take reports of online threats seriously and investigate them out of an abundance of caution, even when initial information is vague or unverified.
