Reason behind Khawaja axing revealed

Australia can wrap up the Ashes series with a win in Adelaide after dominating England in both the Brisbane and Perth Tests.

The Aussies have made just two changes to their squad that won at the Gabba, but they are big ones.

Captain Pat Cummins is back in the squad for his first Test since featuring against the West Indies in June.

Nathan Lyon will also return to the XI, with Brendan Doggett and Michael Neser dropping out.

Usman Khawaja has been overlooked, with selectors opting to stick with Travis Head and Jake Weatherald.

England have insisted the Adelaide pitch, known to be a batting paradise, will suit them as they look to become only the second side in history to come back to win an Ashes series after being 2-0 down.

The only time it has ever happened was by Australia in Australia (3-2, December 1936 to March 1937).

History is not in England’s favour, given they have won just one of their last seven matches at Adelaide Oval.

Their last Test win in Adelaide came in 2010, and that remains their sole victory since 1995.

But England will never be more desperate to get a win after a horror tour Down Under to date, so there is sure to be fireworks.
