After having their four-game winning streak snapped on Sunday, the Boston Bruins return home on Tuesday, Dec. 16, looking to start a new winning streak as they take on the Utah Mammoth for the second time this season.

The Bruins closed out their three-game road trip with a 6-2 loss to the Minnesota Wild in which Alex Steeves and Andrew Peeke scored after the game had already been decided, late in the third period. But the goals were useful in that they preserved Boston’s run of not being shutout since a March 2, 1-0 loss in Minnesota last season. It’s been 53 games since the Bruins were held scoreless, whereas their opponents on Tuesday are not even two weeks removed from a 2-0 loss in Calgary to the Flames.
That game was the first in a three-game losing streak for the Mammoth that has since been corrected, as they come into Boston as winners of two straight thanks to a 5-3 win over the Seattle Kraken and a 5-4 overtime victory over the Pittsburgh Panthers on Sunday, which opened up a three-game road trip. Utah was down 3-0 entering the final period and then scored 4 straight thanks to Nate Schmidt, Sean Durzi and Michael Carcone, who scored twice. And then, 42 seconds into overtime, Dylan Guenther scored the winner to move Utah to 16-15-3.
As 19-14-0, the Bruins are in an early season battle to get into the top three of the Atlantic Division, and getting some revenge on the Mammoth for the 3-2 loss they gave them back in October would be useful for that battle. David Pastrnak scored both of Boston’s goals while Logan Cooley and Clayton Keller both scored for Utah, while Guenther scored the winner in the third.
