NCIS star ‘unexpectedly’ dead at 45: ‘Great sadness’

Rachael Carpani of NCIS: Los Angeles fame is dead at the age of 45.
The actress’ sister Georgia shared a statement Monday on their parents on Instagram account, announcing that Rachael Carpani died after a chronic illness.
“It is with great sadness that Tony and Gael Carpani announce that their beautiful daughter, beloved Australian actress Rachael Carpani, unexpectedly but peacefully passed away after a long battle with chronic illness, in the early hours of Sunday 7th December,” the statement read.
“The funeral will be a private event, to be held on Friday 19th December with close family and friends.
“The family requests privacy at this very difficult time and will be making no further statements.”
Rachael Carpani played Jodi Fountain in the Australian series “McLeod’s Daughters” and was also featured in NCIS: Los Angeles, The Rachels and more, including the 2020 Ben Affleck film, “The Way Back.”
In September, Rachael Carpani celebrated her 45th birthday.
“Despite existing in this waking nightmare of a world losing its humanity,” she wrote on Instagram at the time, per EOnline, “you all reminded me how much we should treasure what we have. And against the current backdrop, how enormously grateful we should all be, everyday.”
“Thank you for bringing joy and ridiculous into my world, even for a day or two,” Rachael added. “Didn’t realise how much I needed it, or how much I would love all that love.”
