Tamar Braxton Denies Romantic Involvement With Birdman, Says She Introduced Him to Toni

Tamar Braxton denies that she’s having an affair with her brother-in-law, Birdman. In fact, the R&B vocalist and reality television star claims that she introduced the music executive and rapper to his now-wife, Toni Braxton.

Tamar, who stars on family reality show The Braxtons, appeared on talk show Sherri on Wednesday (Dec. 16), where she shut down the rumor that she was romantically involved with the Cash Money Records co-founder.

“Brian and I were friends first,” Tamar explained, referring to Birdman by his legal name. “And like real, platonic friends. He was actually dating one of my friends a long time ago. So when they broke up, Brian and I became really good friends because him and Slim [Williams] wanted to sign me to Cash Money Records.”

Tamar added that Birdman tried to inquire about Toni, who was married to her then-husband, musician Keri Lewis, whom she divorced in 2013 after twelve years of marriage. “And so when Toni got a divorce, [Birdman] was serious about her and made his way in.”

Tamar added that she was upset about the accusation that her other sister, Tawanda, made about her having an affair with another one of Toni’s exes, because he was “abusive” towards her. Elsewhere, Tamar described Birdman as a “brother” so close that he could almost be “blood.”

The singer also explained that she stepped in to support Birdman for her older sister when she was absent during Cash Money vs. No Limit Records’ Verzuz during ComplexCon in October.

“When I was wiping the sweat off of him, first of all, it was
water. I would just like, ‘Wipe me down.’ I was in it,” Tamar joked.

Toni Braxton, who married Birdman last August after nearly ten years of dating, described her husband as her “bestie” in a recent People interview.

“I’m a hopeless romantic,” Braxton told the outlet. “I’ve learned that romance is never over. It’s ageless.”
