ITV Loose Women star shares sad news as husband rushed to hospital

A Loose Women star shared sad news on Wednesday (December 17) after her husband was rushed to hospital.

Today’s edition of the popular ITV show was hosted by Kaye Adams, and also featured Mariella Frostrup, Olivia Attwood Dack and Nadia Sawalha as they delved into the day’s top stories.

While discussing Christmas, Mariella revealed that her festive plans had been altered when her husband recently fell off a ladder and broke his arm.

“My husband, who’s really the most festive one of all of us. He gets really excited by Christmas, it’s really annoying,” she quipped.

“He was up the ladder stringing festive lights in the garden. He fell off the ladder and broke his right arm. So, spent hours and hours in A&E.

“Yes, I felt very sorry for him, but at the same time, I felt sorry for me because I realised we’ve got 14 people coming for Christmas, including kids. He’s right handed, it was his right arm. And so, guess who is now doing everything?!”

Mariella then joked that she thought her husband had got the injury deliberately, adding: “I actually think it’s justified at this point in the year.

“I’m not inciting you to do this because obviously it’s dangerous, but I’m surprised that more women, in particular, aren’t throwing themselves off ladders just to end the frenzy. There’s so much, it’s too much.”

Kaye then asked: “But is that not your choice?”

Mariella added: “You don’t get to choose whether it’s Christmas or not!”

Mariella was first married to Richard Jobson, the lead singer of punk rock group Skids. After her first marriage ended in 1984, the journalist met human rights lawyer Jason McCue when she was 39 years old, with the couple getting married two years later. They live near Bruton, Somerset and share two children.

Elsewhere on today’s Loose Women, the panellists interviewed Gladiators star Matt Morsia, aka Legend, ahead of the show’s festive special, which will air on Christmas Day.

The Christmas episode will see Joe Wicks, Sam Thompson, Nicola Adams, and Vogue Williams tackle iconic challenges like Duel, The Wall, and The Eliminator, as hosts Bradley and Barney Walsh offer their support.

Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 12.30pm
