The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) have placed an urgent ‘do not eat’ warning for a popular spread sold in SuperValu shops.
The FSAI have said that certain batches of Le Paysan Smoked Salmon Pate, and Le Paysan Smoked Makerel Pate, are said to include sulphur dioxide and sulphur, which are not listed in the official list of ingredients.
While sulphur dioxide is mainly safe, those who suffer from allergies or intolerance to sulphur dioxide are advised not to eat the implicated batches. As well as this, milk is not emphasised in the ingredients list, which may make batches unsafe for people who may be lactose intolerant.

‘The below batches of Le Paysan Smoked Salmon Pate and Le Paysan Smoked Mackerel Pate contain sulphur dioxide which is not declared in the list of ingredients,’ the FSAI have said on their website.
‘Milk is also not emphasised in the ingredients list. This may make the batches unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of sulphur dioxide and/or milk and therefore, these consumers should not eat the implicated batches. The affected batches are being recalled.’
