Ja Morant injury update: Latest on status for Grizzlies-Timberwolves game

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant is questionable to play against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Dec. 17 (7 p.m., FanDuel Sports Network) due to a left ankle sprain.
Morant left a Dec. 15 win over the Los Angeles Clippers with 3:44 left after stepping on the foot of an opposing player and hurting his ankle. The Grizzlies were up 23 points when Morant left the game and went on to win 121-103.
This is the latest injury for Morant this season. He missed the entire preseason with a left ankle sprain, one game due to right ankle soreness and 10 games with a left calf strain.
Morant was in his second game back from the calf injury. He’s currently on a minutes restriction.
In 14 games, Morant is averaging 17.7 points and 7.5 assists this season.
More Grizzlies injury updates
Memphis will be without Cam Spencer against the Timberwolves for personal reasons. Spencer has been one of the team’s top players in recent weeks.
Over his last 10 games, he is arguably the NBA’s hottest shooter. Spencer has scored in double figures in each of his last 10 appearances while knocking down 35 3-pointers at a 63.6% clip.
Grizzlies big man Brandon Clarke could make his season debut against the Timberwolves. Clarke has been sidelined since March with a right knee injury.
He missed the end of last season due to a high grade PCL injury. After initially being in line to return at the start of the season, he had synovitis in his right knee, leading to more missed time.
Clarke’s return should help the Memphis frontcourt without Zach Edey.
