Unsettled weather is in store for the rest of this week, but Met Éireann has said conditions will improve as we head towards Christmas.
Today will start off dry in most areas, before rain spreads across the country and will turn heavy at times. Conditions will clear up again this evening, with highest temperatures of 7 to 11C.
Tonight will also be dry at first, but showers will arrive from the Atlantic and move east later on. Some showers will be heavy, with a chance of hail. Lowest temperatures will be between 3 and 7C.
After a blustery, showery start, Friday will turn to a mostly dry day, with highest temperatures of 7 to 11C.

7-Day Weather Forecast: December 13th to 19th
Friday night will be mostly dry at first, but cloud will build up and bring rain to parts of the south and west towards Saturday morning. Lowest temperatures will be between 4 and 7C.
Those outbreaks of rain will spread across the country during a wet and windy start on Saturday. It will turn drier by the afternoon, with highest temperatures of 6 to 10C.
While Saturday night will be mostly dry and clear, it will be chilly and possibly frosty, with lows of -1 to 2C.
The forecast becomes uncertain from Sunday onwards, but the current forecast shows it will be a cool day with outbreaks of rain, and highs of 3 to 8C.
Although more rain and showers are expected on Monday, current indications show a change is on the way in the days leading up Christmas, with drier and more settled conditions set to develop.
