Rishad makes big impact in Hobart’s victory

Despite going wicket-less in his Big Bash League (BBL) debut, Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain made a big impact in his side Hobart Hurricanes’ four-wicket win over Sydney Thunder with his economical bowling at Bellerive Oval, Hobart.

Rishad finished with figures of 3-0-18-0, keeping the economy rate at six, when all other bowlers, bowling more than one over went at least 8 runs per over. At the end his bowling proved to be decisive, something which the commentators also said from the commentary box during the match.

Asked to bat first, Sydney Thunder made a marauding start, cutting through Hobart pacers-Riley Meredith, Billy Stanlake and Nathan Ellis-in surgical fashion to put on 46 runs in four overs.

At this stage, Rishad came into act, halting Sydney’s run-fest, conceding six runs in the first overs. He then created a pressure with tight bowling that gave others bowlers some space to regroup them and come with renewed confidence.

Sydney eventually managed to put up 180-6 when a 200-plus total was on the card. Hobart, however, overhauled the target with one ball to spare, reaching 181-6 as Rishad started his Big Bash journey with a victory.

It’s the first time in the last four seasons that Hobart won their first match in the Big Bash. ”BSS
