‘Wow…’ – Luke Littler sends 17-word message after missing out on SPOTY awards

LUKE LITTLER couldn’t hide his disappointment after missing out on Young Sports Personality of the Year award.

He posted a message on Instagram saying ‘wow fair enough’ after his snub
He was the youngest ever winner of darts’ most prestigious competition, but it wasn’t enough for either SPOTY award.
Littler didn’t even make the top three of the regular award as Rory McIlroy was crowned the winner, with England women’s rugby star Ellie Kildunne in second and Lando Norris third.
But he was also snubbed for the Young Sports Personality of the Year award as England Lionesses star Michelle Agyemang collected the gong.
Writing on Instagram, Littler said: “Thanks to everyone that voted for me tonight, appreciate it and for Young SPOTY wow fair enough.”

He ended his post with covering eyes emoji.
Littler was previously downbeat about his chances of winning the SPOTY after being quizzed about the prospect last week.
During an interview after his 3-0 win over Darius Labanauskas at the World Darts Championship, he simple said “no” when asked if he thought he had a chance.
And he confirmed he wouldn’t be in attendance as he instead decided to get some practice in at a social club in St Helens.

Littler was then asked if he had informed the BBC he would not be going, before adding: “I think they know. The people in the top three of the betting odds will go.”
The teenager was keen to send his regards to McIlroy after his triumph as he posted a picture of the Irishman along with a congratulations message.
Littler wrote: “Well done @rorymcilroy never in doubt mate unreal year.”
After missing out on Young Spoty, winner Agyemang gave a speech after hobbling on stage using crutches.
The young Lionesses star said: “Wow. Thank you so much. I’m so grateful to the BBC for this opportunity.
“For all my team-mates, for all the coaches and staff who have supported me on the various teams – thank you so much.
“For my family who have supported me all these years, I’m grateful and I love you.
“A big thank you to God for the opportunity. Thank you all for being here and I’m so grateful.”
