The Ashes 2025 LIVE: Head and Carey stand strong on their home ground, push Australia’s lead towards 300

I said it two days ago, and I’ll say it again.
At the age of 26 and in his 35th Test, Cameron Green is capable of so much more than what he’s delivering at the moment. He’s old enough and experienced enough to be a driver of this team’s performance.

The game was set up today for him to dig in and take the game – and the urn – away from England, but he’s given them a sniff by driving and nicking off.
His average with the bat has now dipped from 36.23, when he was injured a year ago, to just 32.82.
It should be trending the other way.
I’m not calling for him to be dropped, but the apprenticeship is well and truly over. It’s time for him to put the numbers on the board.
Australia are 4-174 with a lead of 259 runs.
