Report: Orioles acquire Shane Baz from Rays for mutltiple top prospects

Big things are happening in the AL East.
Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic was first to report the agreement.
Going back to Tampa Bay is a slew of young players: outfielder Slater de Brun, catcher Caden Bodine, right-handed pitcher Michael Forret, and outfielder Austin Overn, Baltimore’s sixth, 10th, 11th, and 13th ranked prospects, respectively.
Baz had a breakout season in 2024, going 4-3 with a 3.06 ERA in 14 starts. His numbers dipped off in 2025, his first full season in the majors, going 10-12 with a 4.87 ERA in 31 starts.
Baltimore’s starting pitching, or lack thereof, has been a hot topic this off-season. Baz joins an Orioles rotation featuring the likes of Trevor Rogers, Dean Kremer, and Kyle Bradish.
