Nikola Topic participates in pregame warmups as he continues cancer treatment

As the Oklahoma City Thunder continue to look like the NBA’s best team and look ready to go back-to-back, Nikola Topic has made the most of his own journey.

Topic remains out for the 2025-26 regular season. He was recently diagnosed with testicular cancer. As he goes through chemotherapy, the Thunder have given him full support and love. Same with the rest of the basketball world after Sam Presti announced the medical update in late October.

Perhaps a sign that things are going in the right direction, Topic conducted a pregame warmup with OKC’s two-way players before the Thunder collected a 122-101 win over the LA Clippers. That was the first time he’s done that with media around.

The Thunder await Topic to make his NBA debut. He was added with the No. 12 pick of the 2024 NBA draft. He missed all of last season recovering from a torn ACL. He suited up in the 2025 Summer League and one preseason game before he underwent testicular surgery to determine if he had cancer.

Topic’s medical group is fully confident he’ll make a full recovery. When he announced his situation, Presti stressed that testicular cancer is one of the more curable forms of cancer among males. And considering he’s spent time working out in the gym and now at Paycom Center, less than two months since that announcement, it looks like everything is going well.
