TV chef James Martin is reportedly set to tie the knot – and go against his previous vow. The Saturday Kitchen star, 53, is said to have popped the question to his 39-year-old personal trainer partner, Kim Johnson.
And any wedding balls will see James do a major U-turn on his previous marriage claims. He had previously said marriage doesn’t interest him “in the slightest”, but appears to have changed his mind.
The engagement comes almost two years since the pair started dating. They made it official in March 2024, with sources claiming the pair are “happier than ever”. And a source said that despite the relatively short spell together, “when you know, you know”.

Speaking to The Sun the insider said: “Of course it’s taken James decades to finally get there and friends do share a wry smile that he’s U-turned on his staunch refusal to ever marry. But everyone has seen the change in him since meeting Kim and he’s never been happier.” They added: “They are a wonderful couple.”
Pals had been questioning whether he was ready to switch his thoughts on marriage. In October, sources claimed he’s a changed man and said things could get difficult for his ex, Louise Davies. “He’s a changed man now he’s met her,” a source told the publcation.
“He used to be fiercely private about his love life. It will be very hard for Louise – who was with him for 12 years – when Kim gets a huge diamond ring on her finger.”
James and Kim’s relationship came after the famous chef split from long-term partner Louise. The former couple had been together for 12 years, but called it quits in December 2023.
Before that, James had been romantically attached to Bond producer Barbara Broccoli. Kim, meanwhile, was previously married to Elizabeth Hurley’s ex-husband Arun Nayar. They broke off their marriage in 2017.
James recently gave an insight into life with Kim, admitting his girlfriend calls him a “nightmare to be around’. The confession came as he put his success in the kitchen down to his “obsessive” nature, a trait he joked that even his partner has recognised.
James was speaking on Good Housekeeping’s My Life in a Biscuit Tin podcast when he was quizzed about his unique brand and attention to detail. He told the hosts: “That’s what my girlfriend says.”
He was then pressed on whether he is “a bit of a nightmare to be around” and initially denied that was the case. However, he continued: “I’m obsessed with everything. I see everything.
“Worse now I’ve had my eyes done. So you know you’ve had your eyes done? I had full refractive lens surgery, so I had the lenses taken out and had new ones put in. It’s scary, I can see around corners now.
“People are now scared at work because I can see stuff a mile off. I see veins on a tree. I can read without glasses. It’s amazing.”
