The members of the selection committee should be embarrassed. At least the ones that not only put Alabama in the field but kept it at No. 9 after that showing in the SEC championship. That game should have been a red light warning that this Alabama team just wasn’t playoff-worthy anymore. Ever since late October, when it barely won at South Carolina, the Crimson Tide have looked middle of the road, losing at home to this Oklahoma team, slogging out wins against LSU (at home) and at Auburn, and of course getting manhandled by Georgia.

And yet the committee still put them in. If this result holds up, it should be a scandal.
