Parramatta Lord Mayor’s Christmas Celebration Brings Community and Charity Together at Sydney Olympic Park
The 2025 Lord Mayor’s Christmas Celebration was held in a warm and festive atmosphere at Waterview, Bicentennial Park, with guests gathering in the Lake Room to mark the season of goodwill, unity, and generosity.
The evening officially commenced under the guidance of Master of Ceremonies Sam McCool, who welcomed attendees and set the tone for a program that blended civic leadership, cultural respect, community spirit, and a bit of humour.
A Welcome to Country was delivered by Uncle Bruce Gale, a respected Dharug Elder, acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the land and paying respect to Elders past and present. This was followed by Grace said by Father Charbel Dib, reflecting the reflective and inclusive nature of the occasion.
The highlight of the formal proceedings was the Lord Mayor’s Address, delivered by The Right Worshipful, the Lord Mayor of Parramatta, Councillor Martin Zaiter. In his address, the Lord Mayor spoke about the importance of community connection, compassion, and leadership, particularly during the Christmas season, which serves as a reminder of shared values and collective responsibility.
A significant moment of the evening was the Charity Presentation, jointly led by the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress, in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Western Sydney. The presentation underscored the ongoing commitment of local leadership to supporting families facing hardship, particularly those caring for seriously ill children.
The formalities concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Councillor Steven Issa, who acknowledged the organisers, dignitaries, charity partners, and guests for their contributions to the success of the event.
Entertainment for the evening was provided by The Showtime Crew, adding a celebratory energy to the gathering and bringing the program to a joyful close. A short comedy stint was also performed by Sam McCool.
The event proudly recognised Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Western Sydney as the official Charity Partner, highlighting the organisation’s vital work across the region and reinforcing the spirit of giving that defines the Christmas season.
