Netflix viewers were swift to voice their concerns about Kate Scott’s shifting accent mere minutes into the streaming giant’s Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua coverage.
The CBS Sports presenter was chosen to front the main card broadcast on the platform, alongside Laila Ali, Andre Ward and Lennox Lewis. However, as the Manchester-born broadcaster began her introduction to the evening’s action, some viewers immediately questioned her delivery.
Flocking to X, one person posted: “Kate Scott’s weird American twang accent is sending me,” whilst another queried: “Kate Scott putting on an American accent? ?” A third observer remarked: “What’s this half American half British accent Kate Scott is doing?”

One more viewer commented: “It’s so funny hearing Kate Scott slap on her American twang to her accent so the Americans understand her.”
While a fifth person noted: “What’s with Kate Scott’s accent??? Totally different to when she’s presenting CL games. Weird.”
Nevertheless, others rushed to support the 44 year old presenter. One defender argued: “People moaning about @kate_scott having an English/American accent, she’s probably been in the states for a week or so with her American husband and their American friends I have an afternoon in the pub with my family I’ll switch from west to south Yorkshire within 3 pints.”

Paul is gearing up to face Joshua in the early hours of Saturday morning (UK time) at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, reports the Express.
The ‘Problem Child’ has an impressive record of 12-1 since his professional debut in January 2020, boasting victories over big names like Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley and Nate Diaz.
However, Joshua will be his most formidable opponent yet when they finally square off in the ring. A two-time heavyweight world champion, Joshua enters the fight with a remarkable record of 28-4 with 25 knockouts.
He’ll be aiming to bounce back from his crushing fifth-round knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois in September 2024.
