Ubisoft says Assassin’s Creed Shadows is pushing Switch 2 “very hard” in handheld mode, resolution increase unlikely

Assassin’s Creed Shadows was rumored for Switch 2 release long before the game was officially announced. Many thought it would be impossible for the Switch 2 to run the game, but Ubisoft has proven quite the opposite. Without a doubt, Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Switch 2 is a technical showcase for what the Switch 2 can do in the right hands.
While Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Switch 2 is seriously impressive, there are some areas that fans would like to see improved. One element players would like to see tweaked is the game’s resolution in handheld mode. For those wondering, the Switch 2 version of Assassin’s Creed Shadows uses a DLSS uplift from a base 400p resolution in portable mode. A higher base resolution would certainly make for a clearer picture, but it seems that’s just not going to happen.
Star Wars Outlaws, another Ubisoft title, manages to offer a clearer picture in handheld mode on Switch 2, but in an interview with FRVR, Ubisoft’s team says what Assassin’s Creed Shadows is doing under the hood makes it pretty much impossible to push portable fidelity higher.
