Dennis Krause Blog: Packers escape Arizona with a win

Most of Sunday was a struggle. In the end, the Packers left Arizona with a 27-23 victory. The Packers haven’t hit their stride yet and they’ve put their fans through the emotional wringer. Don’t lose sight that the Packers are 4-1-1.

They find a way. In Arizona, that way included the defense forcing a turnover, Micah Parsons delivering three sacks, and Matt LaFleur showing confidence in his team by eschewing a tying field goal to extend a drive that was capped by a go-ahead touchdown.

It was the same kind of confidence LaFleur showed right before half, when he refused to concede the final seconds. Filling in for injured kicker Brandon McManus, Lucas Havrisik drilled a franchise-record 61-yard field goal.

I’m not here to tell you the Packers are perfect. We all know they’re not and there’s plenty of room to grow. What I am saying is that there’s immense value in knowing how to win close games. Maybe they shouldn’t be that close, but you know what I mean.

Now, the Packers head to Pittsburgh for a Sunday night game. We’ll all hear plenty about Aaron Rodgers this week. All that matters is the result of the game. The Packers proved that again in Arizona.
