Minister of Economy Hwej meets Moroccan Minister of Foreign Trade to discuss developing economic relations

‎Libya’s Tripoli based Ministry of Economy and Trade reported last Friday (17 October) that Minister of Economy and Trade, Mohamed Al-Hwej, held a meeting with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Trade, Omar Hujira, on the sidelines of the Turkish African Business Forum held in Istanbul from 16 to 17 October.

During the meeting the two discussed ways to enhance economic, trade and investment cooperation between Libya and Morocco.‎

Resumption of direct flights, visas and reopening Moroccan embassy in Tripoli
Minister Hwej stressed the importance of developing the economic partnership between the two countries, pointing to the need to resume direct flights between Libya and Morocco, and to reopen the Moroccan embassy in Tripoli, in a way that contributes to facilitating the movement of businessmen and simplifying the procedures for granting visas.‎

Hwej also called for the organisation of a forum for Libyan and Moroccan businessmen in Morocco, with the aim of discussing available investment opportunities and increasing the volume of trade, in coordination with the Union of Chambers of Commerce in the two countries, in order to enhance economic integration and serve common interests.‎

‎The Ministry reported that the meeting comes within the framework of its efforts to enhance regional cooperation and openness to Maghreb and African markets, in support of the diversification of the national economy and the development of partnerships with friendly countries‎.
