Rock legend lookalike pops into Boston Irish pub, sings band’s hit song for fans

Editor’s note: Liam Gallagher of Oasis does not appear to have been at The Dubliner Irish Pub Thursday as originally reported. Roll With It, an Oasis cover band, posted on Facebook that it was at the Boston bar. This story was updated at 9:40 a.m. on Oct. 18, 2025.

Those who grabbed a pint at a Boston Irish pub Thursday night were delighted by a rock legend lookalike who caused a stir on social media as to whether he was the real deal.

It appeared that Liam Gallagher of Oasis popped into The Dubliner Irish Pub and sang his band’s signature hit, “Wonderwall,” according to a TikTok posted by musician Jinty Mcgrath.

The video showed a room packed with customers singing along to the 1995 hit. The Dubliner also shared a picture of Gallagher on its Instagram story and told MassLive over the phone Friday that the legendary singer was there.

Despite the video reading, “Liam Gallagher hops on stage at an Irish pub in Boston,” comments on the video went back and forth as to whether the singer was a doppelgänger.

It was later revealed that the singer was a member of the Oasis cover band, named Roll With It. The band posted that it had played The Dubliner on Facebook, commenting, “Well if it’s good for enough for Ed Sheeran, it’s good enough for us.”

Roll With It’s website states the group formed in 2013 “to bring the music of the Gallaghers to the live stage in Belfast and beyond.”

Made up of “experienced musicians,” Roll With It performs a slew of Oasis’ hit singles in an acoustic setting — as seen at The Dubliner Thursday night.

Meanwhile the real Gallagher is coming off Oasis’ long-awaited reunion tour that was announced in August 2024 and marked the first time the duo — including his brother, Noel — got back together in 15 years. Oasis’ tour initially contained only shows in Europe before the group added North American dates. Oasis’ last U.S show was on Sept. 7 in Los Angeles. The band has more stops planned in Europe, Asia, Australia and South America through the end of November.

The tour announcement also came 30 years after Oasis skyrocketed to fame with the release of their debut album, “Definitely Maybe” in 1994. The album became the fastest-selling debut album in British history at the time, Today reported.

Oasis followed that success with “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?” in 1995. The project was certified quadruple platinum in the U.S. and produced the band’s signature song “Wonderwall.” Other notable songs by the band include “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” “Stop Crying Your Heart Out,” “Champagne Supernova” and “Live Forever.”

Oasis released five more studio albums, with their last project being “Dig Out Your Soul” in 2008. However, the band broke up after a backstage brawl at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris in August 2009, according to the BBC. Despite the recent reunion, Oasis has no plans to make new music or hit the road again.

“This is very much the last time around, as Noel’s made clear in the press,” manager Alec McKinlay told Music Week in May. “It’s a chance for fans who haven’t seen the band to see them, or at least for some of them to … there’s no plan for any new music.”
