Straight after emerging from his successful White House meeting with US President Donald Trump – well, as long as your name isn’t Kevin Rudd – Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced that taxpayers would pour $US100 million ($154 million) into helping ASX-listed rare earths junior Arafura Rare Earths develop its Nolans project in the Northern Territory, which he said could eventually produce 5 per cent of annual rare earths demand.
