Unique Seahawks stat that bodes well for the Mariners

The Seahawks are gearing up to take on the Texans for a Monday Night Football showdown, but they won’t be the only Seattle team with the eyes of the country watching. The Seahawks’ next door neighbors, the Seattle Mariners, will be across the continent and in Canada for an ALCS Game 7 against the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Mariners, having squandered an opportunity to win the American League on Sunday night, now has their season coming down to a winner-take-all game for a chance to win their first pennant ever. While the Mariners and Seahawks will be separated by nearly the entire width of North America, and an international boundary, could the team playing in the Emerald City have any impact on the one playing in The Six?

Well, perhaps! Speaking of “The Six,” the Mariners are 6-0 on days when the Seahawks are also playing!

The last time this occurred was on October 5th, when the Seahawks hosted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Mariners were busy at T-Mobile Park for Game 2 of the ALDS against the Detroit Tigers. The Seahawks sadly fell 38-35 to the visiting Bucs, but the Mariners prevailed against the Tigers after dropping the first game the night before.

We at Seahawks Wire want to wish the Mariners all the luck in the world tonight. Winning Game 7 to advance to the World Series and immediately following it up with a prime time Seahawks game would be an all-time Monday. If the Mariners can’t get the job done, well… at least the Seahawks will provide an immediate distraction to the Seattle faithful.
