If you didn’t get a chance to see Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch duke it out as a feuding married couple on the big screen, good news: The Roses movie is coming to digital platforms to buy and rent tomorrow.
Directed by Jay Roach, with a screenplay by Tony McNamara (a writer known for his collaborations with director Yorgos Lanthimos on The Favourite and Poor Things), The Roses stars Cumberbatch as Theo Rose, a successful architect who falls in love with an aspiring chef, Ivy (Colman). Years later, Theo and Rose are married with kids, and their relationship has soured. Theo’s career comes to a halt after an architectural disaster, while Ivy’s takes off and launches a culinary empire. Little things become big things over the years, until Theo and Ivy are, quite literally, at each other’s throats.
The Roses is a modern-day take on the 1989 dark comedy, The War of the Roses, starring Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner, and Danny DeVito, which itself was an adaptation of Warren Adler’s 1981 novel. Also starring Andy Samberg, Alison Janney, Sunita Mani, Ncuti Gatwa, Jamie Demetriou, Zoë Chao, and Kate McKinnon, The Roses earned $50 million at the worldwide box office, but perhaps it will find a big audience at home. Where to watch the new War of the Roses movie The Roses online:
The Roses will be released on digital tomorrow, on Tuesday, October 21 at 12 a.m. Eastern Time (which is also 9 p.m. Pacific Time on October 20). You can pre-order The Roses on platforms like Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Fandango At Home, and more. The movie costs $24.99 to buy. The Roses DVD release date has not yet been announced.
Before you buy The Roses online, you should know that The Roses is likely coming to Hulu soon.

When will The Roses movie be on streaming on Hulu?
The Roses Hulu release date has not yet been announced, but it might be streaming on Hulu around Thanksgiving. The Roses is a Searchlight Pictures film, and most of the Searchlight films—a studio now owned by Disney—go to the Disney-owned streamer, Hulu.
Another Searchlight film, A Complete Unknown came to Hulu about three months after it opened in theaters. If The Roses follows a similar pattern, you might see it on Hulu around late November 2025.
