U’s boss plotting ‘wholesale changes’ for Barnet trip

Neil Harris has revealed that he will make ‘wholesale changes’ to his Cambridge United side for Tuesday night’s Vertu Trophy group encounter away at fellow League Two outfit Barnet.
Harris made 10 alterations for United’s previous fixture in the competition, yet they still delivered the goods with a 3-1 victory at the expense of higher-league Luton Town.
And speaking after Saturday’s 2-1 league victory over Bromley, Harris is planning a similar number of switches for the trip to The Hive.

“It will be the same as the last game – there will be wholesale changes,” said Harris.
“I’m going to change the team, I’m going to give people an opportunity and the lads that have trained well and the lads that have played well.
“Some of the lads played really, really well against Luton and they’ve come off the bench and done well, so we’ll make as many changes as I possibly can in line with the rules of the competition, but also making sure we’re competitive.
“I want to give people an opportunity. Yes I want people to get minutes, but I also want to give people an opportunity to show me they’re worthy of playing in the team.”
Victory for Cambridge on Tuesday would leave them on the verge of qualifying for the knockout stages of the competition.
