RTÉ presenter Doireann Garrihy has welcomed her first child.
In April, Garrihy announced she was expecting her first child with husband Mark Mehigan.
In a post on Instagram, she confirmed the birth of their first baby, a girl named Rosie.
“Our baby, Rosie. A love like this we’ve never known,” Garrihy wrote in a post alongside a picture of her, Mehigan and the new arrival together in hospital.
Hundreds of people shared their congratulations with the couple, including Una Healy who wrote: “Congratulations to you both and welcome to the world baby Rosie.”
Carl Mullan, who Garrihy used to host 2FM’s breakfast show alongside, wrote: “Welcome to the world Rosie. Massive congrats to you both. Go on Mam ya superstar.”
Former Today FM presenter Dermot Whelan said: “Congratulations!! Remember to keep your strength up, try to eat and don’t take too many visitors. You’ve been through so much physically and emotionally. You too Doireann.”
Presenter Arthur Gourounlian, a judge on Dancing with the Stars, a show Garrihy co-hosts, wrote: “OMG, this is absolutely stunning. Hello Rosie, welcome to the world. I can’t wait to meet you”
Also among those wishing the couple well were Garrihy’s sister Ailbhe, TikTok star Kayleigh Trappe and broadcaster Kathryn Thomas.
