Steve Kerr not ready to reveal starting lineup ahead of opening night

While most of their core remains from previous seasons, the Golden State Warriors did make some changes to their roster over the offseason, starting with the additions of veterans like Al Horford and De’Anthony Melton.

While the Warriors did bring in some free agents, they also lost longtime center Kevon Looney. Looney started six games last season while playing in 76. With Looney no longer an option, Kerr will have to mix up Golden State’s starting lineup.

While four spots are likely locked up by Steph Curry, Brandin Podziemski, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green, Kerr has yet to reveal the final spot in the starting group. On Monday, Kerr told reporters that he has decided on the starting lineup, but isn’t ready to reveal it. It looks like the official announcement for the starting lineup on opening night will have to wait till Tuesday.

Veteran big man Al Horford is the likely candidate to fill Golden State’s fifth and final spot in the rotation. Horford played in 60 games last season for the Boston Celtics, starting in 42. The 38-year-old center averaged 12.9 points and 7.9 rebounds for the Celtics last year.

Jonathan Kuminga could also be a potential option if Kerr wanted Green to start at center with a smaller lineup. Kuminga started 10 games for the Warriors last season.

The Warriors will meet the Lakers at 7 p.m. PT on Tuesday night in Los Angeles.
