There were goals galore on Tuesday night as the UEFA Champions League returned to our screens with a bang.

In total, there were 43 goals scored across nine fixtures.

That’s the third-highest goal count of any individual night in the competition’s history, according to Opta.

There were some superb strikes across the continent, and with that in mind, we thought it was time for the fans to have their say on which one was best.

Aleix Garcia (Bayer Leverkusen) v PSG

Nine of those 43 goals were scored in the clash between Bayer Leverkusen and Paris Saint-Germain at the BayArena.

The German side may have been on the wrong end of a 7-2 thrashing at the hands of last season’s UEFA Champions League winners, but Aleix Garcia showed his class throughout the match.

His second goal was a 30-yard thunderbolt that he nonchalantly fired into the top-right corner. Do consolation strikes come any better than this?

Marcus Rashford appears to have got his career back on track since moving to Spain, and he was at his best to score his second goal in the 6-1 mauling of 10-man Olympiacos.

The England international stopped the ball dead in its tracks with a phenomenal touch on the edge of the box before finding the bottom corner with a cheeky finish.

Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal) v Atletico Madrid

Gabriel Martinelli and Myles Lewis-Skelly linked up during an excellent 4-0 win for Arsenal against Atletico Madrid at The Emirates.

Myles Lewis-Skelly burst through the heart of midfield before finding his team-mate, who calmly finished past Jan Oblak to make it 2-0.

Harvey Barnes (Newcastle United) v Benfica

Pope mobbed after his ‘special throw’ assists Barnes goal

Harvey Barnes’ first goal in Newcastle’s 3-0 victory against Jose Mourinho’s Benfica will live long in the memory due to Nick Pope’s fabulous assist.

The English goalkeeper threw the ball from the edge of his penalty area, picking out his team-mate who was travelling into opposition territory.

Barnes then conjured a finish worthy of the assist, drilling the ball into the bottom-left corner to give his side a 2-0 lead.

Desire Doue (PSG) v Bayer Leverkusen

Several players stood up to be counted during the remarkable clash between Leverkusen and PSG, but Desire Doue was the star of the show.

His second goal saw him conjure a wonderful strike that nestled into the bottom-right corner from the edge of the penalty area.

Fermin Lopez (first goal) v Olympiacos

Fermin Lopez also had a night to remember as he scored a hat-trick during Barcelona’s big win.

Any of his three goals could have made this shortlist, but the assist for his first was simply sensational.

Lopez produced a brilliant turn on the edge of the centre circle and followed that up by feeding Lamine Yamal.

The prodigious forward skipped past three players before giving the ball back to Lopez, who managed to turn the ball into the back of the net.

Felix Nmecha (Borussia Dortmund) v Copenhagen

Felix Nmecha also had a great Tuesday, scoring twice in Borussia Dortmund’s 4-2 triumph over Copenhagen.

His first goal was an emphatic strike into the roof of the net that sent the German side on their way to victory.

Dennis Man (PSV) v Napoli

Dennis Man produced an absolute rocket during PSV’s entertaining 6-2 dismantling of Napoli.

He scored twice during the clash, but his second was a delightful curling effort from the edge of the box into the top-right corner of the goal.

Vitinha (PSG) v Bayer Leverkusen

Vitinha smashes in PSG seventh to cap off ‘magnificent’ display

Vitinha may be better known for his passing, but the Portuguese midfielder also found the back of the net from distance against Leverkusen.

He capped a stunning display from the holders by drilling the ball into the bottom corner from outside the box in the 90th minute.
